Transfer of Learning

    Identify a topic or skill that you intend to teach within a K-12 classroom; identify the grade level or age range of students. Explain your anticipated strategies to accomplish the following transfer outcomes.
a.    Teach the topic or skill with the intention of students’ positive transfer of their learning.
b.   Teach the topic/skill to facilitate students’ near transfer of their learning.
c.    Teach the topic/skill to facilitate students’ far transfer of their learning.
d.   Teach the topic/skill to prevent students’ negative transfer of their learning.

  1. I plan to teach high school history, social studies, or geography. To avoid negative and having positive transfer in the students learning will come from carefully designing the lessons to build off of each other. For near transfer I will give tasks that are procedural and applied in the same order. For far transfer I’ll throw them curve balls and give tasks that are in changing situations and include many variables.
